Event Information:
One of BTR's longer runs starting at Chepstow Castle, there is an immediate climb up to the start of the Wye Valley Trail, from there we run along undulating woodland trails to a steep climb to the Eagles Nest viewpoint, then onto Tintern Abbey. From the Abbey we run along the riverbank to Brockwier, from Brockwier we climb up to Offa's Dyke Trail and return to Chepstow along woodland trails via the Devils Pulpit.
Distance - Approx. 23km
Elevation - Approx. 767m
Terrain - Woodland trails, steep climbs, trip hazards.
Difficulty - Intermediate / Advanced
Leader - Jason Dickson
To take part in this event you should be able to run 10k in 55 minutes or less. The average pace on the route will be around 6-7/mpkm.
Essential Kit:
Trail running shoes
Waterproof jacket with taped seams
Extra warm layer in waterproof bag
Minimum 300kcal of food
Minimum 1L of water (more if it is hot)
Head torch with spare batteries
Fully charged mobile phone
Survival bag or blanket
Small first aid kit
Gloves and a warm hat or buff
Hand sanitiser and face mask
Warm and dry clothes in the car + a towel
Extra food, water and a hot drink in the car
